The San Jose Sharks have been a South Bay institution since their move to their South Bay home in 1993 (only 2 years after the team began). This National Hockey League team has been a longtime contender in the Stanley Cup Playoff Tournaments. Playing at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, known throughout the NHL and locally as the “Shark Tank”, the Sharks are a Santa Clara and South Bay favorite and draw record selling crowds. The Bay Area is known throughout the country for its two professional football teams.
